Sneak Peek of the 2017 Elantra Sport
Packed with more than 200 Horsepower and some very unique styling changes, the Elantra Sport is heading to Lauria Hyundai before the end of the year! Jason Siu, from Autoguide.com wrote a small article on July 12th to provide a sneak peek of this amazing new vehicle.
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport will arrive in North America in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Originally introduced in late April in South Korea, the Hyundai Elantra Sport will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and will deliver “more than 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque,” according to Hyundai. The figures might be slightly different than what was announced in South Korea, where it bowed with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.
Regardless, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport will be the most powerful Elantra model ever and shoppers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters.
It’s not just performance under the hood that makes the Elantra Sport particularly exciting, as Hyundai has also outfitted the model with independent multi-link rear suspension. There’s also more aggressive bodywork and model-specific interior upgrades like a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sport seats and red contrast stitching.
Expect exact specifications for the model in Canadian trim to be announced closer to its launch later this year.
“Elantra Sport demonstrates our commitment to providing drivers with compelling vehicle choices that align with their interests,” says Mike Evanoff, Hyundai Motor America manager of product planning. “This is a vehicle that reflects our own passion for cars and driving, expressing it with sharp looks, proven in-car technology, upgraded power, and fun, sporty handling.”
